Servicing and repair:
All bikes that come to The Cycle Studio are assessed and you will be advised on the costs and timescale involved before any work starts. We will explain what needs doing and take your instruction on what to do.
Please see the Prices page for a list of services and repairs.  If you don’t see what you need, please contact us to discuss your particular need.

Restoration, Customising and Adaptations:

Whether you want to quickly customise your current ride or fully restore that old bike you’ve had for years, we can help.  With access to powder coating and wet spray facilities, we can transform your bike from the old tired looking machine that it is, to a sparkling ride finished to your specification.
As well as bike customising, we are able to provide services to make adaptations to your bike in whatever way you need.  Whether you need adaptations because of a disability or because you want to be able to carry certain items, tow things etc, we can help.  Please contact us to discuss your needs / ideas.
We work with a couple of small businesses who fabricate one off items without the huge overheads of large organisations.  Therefore, we can make things at an affordable price.

Pictured here are two of our favourites, one restoration and one restoration / customisation:

1954 Childs BSA single speed bike:
This bike was repainted by the previous owner using a brush and a combination of gold and silver Hammerite.  Neither colour was used on any of the original bikes from that era.  As expected, when the forks were removed, the original colour was showing on the steerer tube, which confirmed that the painting was only done as a superficial job.  Using the original colour, a match was found and the bike was treated to its original colour before a rebuild with some new components.  Much of the chrome just needed a clean and polished.
Specialized Hardrock mountain bike:
As time goes on, bike styles come and go and trends in colour do the same.  This hardrock was looking a bit tired and needed a new lease of life.  Off came the blue and the multitude of decals and a custom powder coat was applied to both the frame and handle bars.  A lot of cleaning took place and new decals cut.  The end result is a new looking bike that still has years of life and fun left in it.  After the revamp and rebuild, this bike covered the full distance in the coast to coast from workington in the lake district to Tynemouth and is still putting in the miles on a weekly basis - this bike could have gone to the tip but is back out there being enjoyed.
